For almost three decades, UbU has occupied a favorite place in women’s closets and suitcases. Discovered on the shelves and racks of specialty stores, upscale boutiques, country club pro shops, resorts, and select catalogues, our novelty travel wear – like you – is continuously evolving.
UbU Through the Years
Founded in 1991 by Alan Blau, UbU International Corporation had humble beginnings as a manufacturer of tie-dye sweats and T-shirts. In 1996, David Koral helped the brand achieve international recognition for a wider range of clothing that includes cult-favorite jackets, blouses, dresses, skirts, outerwear, and more. In 2016 Joe Leggo was made a partner. Joe has been with UbU for 12 years and serves as the treasurer / vice president and is the face of the brand at shows.
Our tagline, Pack Your Personality, reflects the items for which we are most fondly known: a line of novelty travel and leisure wear that is reversible, lightweight, packable, and blissfully wrinkle free, thanks to intricate hand pleating and fabric texturing.
Intended to help you express your fun and adventurous side, UbU clothing is available in a variety of colors and unique prints. Recently, our team has partnered with a curated group of artists who created custom designs for our bamboo tunics, reversible raincoats, and packable blazers.

About The Artists
Alexis Bonavitacola specializes in abstract landscapes and floral art.
I love experimenting with a variety of mediums, such as acrylics, collage, oil, gouache and pastel. I worked in alcohol inks and encaustic waxes for years and loved it!
In addition to my fine art collection, I’ve taught thousands of students in a variety of e-courses, educate/mentor and coach other artists and in 2021 launched my monthly membership, The Artist Collective.
One of my greatest joys is inviting my granddaughter, Lily, into my creative play environment. Together we teach each other to continue to explore and learn and we discover the many different ways in which painting can be just the spark to fuel our imaginations.
Janet Barnette’s passion has always been painting, starting from the age of six.
Her amazing abstract paintings reflect her love of undisciplined pattern, far reaching undertone, and ever mesmerizing complexion of paint. Magnificent color, rich in texture, energy, grace and dynamic whimsy are often found in every piece.
Her first public showing was in 2000. Now, her signature pieces hang in many homes and businesses, appealing as they do to a wide range of homeowners and collectors. Watch for Janet’s painting titled “Seeing Red” featured in UbU Clothing’s collection of wearable art, quilted jackets, raincoats, and knitwear. “Seeing Red” was recognized by the Northwest Watercolor Society in their 2022 “Waterworks Unlimited” exhibition. Her painting was awarded third place in the highly participated worldwide competition.
NWWS is recognized as one of the most prominent national/international watercolor societies in North America promoting all forms of water media. “Seeing Red” can be viewed online at NWWS.org. Continuing her painting aspirations, today, Janet is splitting her time between Naples and Nashvillle, enjoying the art world of both cities.
Laurie DeVault is a contemporary abstract artist who paints in her home studio in western Massachusetts.
She received her art degree from Cal Poly Humboldt and enjoyed a long career as an educator of young children. Since retiring, DeVault has devoted much of her time to painting and showing her work in galleries and special exhibits from coast to coast.
DeVault’s approach to painting is one of exploration, experimentation, and discovery. Her colorful and expressive creations have appealed to a variety of clientele, and her paintings have found homes throughout the United States and beyond. Her work has been featured on concert posters, music albums, authors’ newsletters, area rugs, and women’s fashions. Her painting “Voyage” was selected as the cover for the 2021 edition of Art Folio, a publication featuring the selected works of several hundred artists from around the world.
Needles, California based painter, Marcia Breznay, has been honing her artistic skills since 2013 fulfilling a lifelong passion for all forms of art.
A first love of photography led the way to painting, at first, Watercolor which evolved into another form of fluid art in Alcohol Inks. The vibrant colors of the inks play perfectly with Marcia’s style of painting as they can be both used in abstract and realistic art. Inspired by the Southwest desert sunsets, her palette is alive with striking color.
Marcia is always seeking new ways to express herself artistically, venturing into Mixed Media with Acrylics and Gouache. She shares her skills with fellow artists in a local workshop and her paintings have been displayed in a local gallery and hang in homes across America and Internationally. In addition, she has won awards in juried art shows and most recently her art work has been chosen to grace the beautiful designs of UBU Clothing Co.
William DeBilzan is an artist of life and love, who creates modern art that is reflective of the heart.
Based on thoughts and memories of real life experiences, he creates multiple forms and mediums of fine art from paintings and murals to sculptures. A passionate experience everyone should enjoy if you visit his art gallery. He approaches each blank canvas with his own unique style of spontaneous creativity and endeavors to find balance by creating a solid foundation of rich color and bold texture, adding layers of dimension and complexity within each composition.
